Kansas City and Small Town Iowa!!!

It was Scott's Kelly Day weekend and I took a vacation day today so we headed down to Kansas City for a little getaway. Jeter stayed in Red Oak with Grandpa and Grandma Ratcliff. Scott and I had a marvelous time. We ate and gambled at the slots and much to our disappointment we both have to go back to work tomorrow. We were so unlucky. On the way home we took Highway 71 home. The scenic route most of you would call it. We endured some fog and Scott took me on a tour of small town Iowa. We visited Villisca, Stanton and of course Red Oak. I wanted to call Anne to see what Glenwood had to offer but we were anxious to get home after the long car ride. We had a great time on our way home. We saw some special landmarks. Enjoy the pics!!!

Last but not least, we visited Johnny Carson's house in Red Oak. It is just right down the street from Scott's House. Johnny lived there for a short time at a young age and he ended up donating a large sum of money to the Red Oak Performing Arts Center when he passed away. Thanks Johnny!!!

Next we visited Stanton, Iowa. Stanton, Iowa is a swedish colony and all the houses are white. It is also home to the largest tea cup in the world. They also have the largest coffee cup but I missed that part of the tour.

This is the house of the Villisca House Murders. This is historic landmark of the murder that took place at this house in 1910. To learn more about your can read: The Morning ran Red and an ancestors of Scott's was the coroner on the case.

The fog on the way home! Traffic was slow moving on old Highway 71.

Saturday night!!

Well Saturday night Scott and I attended the St.Albert Alumni Bowling Tournament. Some of you may be confused. Scott and I are not alumni of St. Albert but my sister and many of our friends our. We had a great night of church at St. Patrick's, dinner at Pizza King and then we were spectators at the bowling tourney. Well that is what we thought anyway. Scott and I did get to end up bowling after all. The lane next to my sister had an open bowler so we stepped in. Although they were probably wishing we did not. Real bowling is nothing like Wii bowling. Just ask Steve.. It was fun. Enjoy the pics!!!!
